Join the Client & Family Advisory Council (CFAC)!
The CFAC is an important initiative at AMHS-KFLA that harnesses the expertise of lived experience by providing clients and their loved ones with a voice and opportunity to influence services at the agency. This advisory council supports the improvement of services, the development and advancement of new initiatives, and ensures that we continue a client-centred approach to care.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect after I apply to the CFAC?
After sending your completed application to [email protected]. You will be contacted by our Advanced Practice Clinician who supports the council. The Advanced Practice Clinician will provide information about the council and schedule an informal interview. Selected members will be provided with training and be required to complete a Criminal record Check with Vulnerable Status as well as sign off on their adherence to several agency policies.
What type of Projects does the CFAC work on?
CFAC members work closely with AMHS-KFLA staff to assist in providing the voice of clients and caregivers to inform planning, policy development and provide unique perspectives from our community.
Examples of past projects include a Quality Improvement project to advance the agency’s discharge process and input to development of Wellness and Support Plan templates.
I want to participate, but I am worried about the Criminal Record Check – what happens if there is a past charge or other incident in my history?
Your criminal record check results will be reviewed in confidence by our agency’s Human Resource department and discussed with relevant leadership team members. A result on a criminal record check alone should not deter someone from applying to the CFAC. We respect the diverse backgrounds of our group members.
I have never done something like this before. Do I have something to contribute to CFAC?
As someone with lived/living experience or has experiences with loved one(s) you bring important qualifications to CFAC. Experience gathered from work, social or personal events is welcomed. We are seeking individuals with skill sets such as open thinking, problem solving, and those who are solution focused with varying perspectives.
